Dylan, our little star, and his family were nominated by a new neighbor for an Embrace Session this last fall. A week before he was due Marcy (mom) and Eric (dad) were told that Dylan's diaphragm muscle had not closed and the contents of his lower abdomen were restricting his lung development. Marcy's delivered Dylan on August 11th and he was transferred to Randall Children's Hospital - NICU where he received care for a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH).
When CCF received the nomination for an Embrace Session our team quickly worked with the family to schedule a photography session and offer support to the family. We were able to schedule time with the family and met up on a very exciting day. After being in the NICU for 18 days Dylan was healthy enough to have his ventilator removed and received air from a nasal cannula.
Once in the room it was clear to see that little Dylan had a mascot of his own - Dyl Pickle had many fans that were sending him love and strength.
We were able to capture some very special moments as mom and dad were both able to hold Dylan against their chests, brush his hair (dad was really looking forward to this), and just overall not be as stressed about the well being of little Dylan.
Dylan still has a road of recovery and adjustment as his body adapts to his lungs but has an amazing team supporting him!
